Triathlon and Marathon Coaching for Working Professionals

Triathlon and Marathon Coaching for Working Professionals

The short answer: Angela Naeth Coaching coaches triathletes and runners who have full time jobs, families and travel, and still want a BQ, a Major, 70.3 Worlds or Kona. Every week your coach reads your data and your life, then decides to push, hold or pull back. Recovery comes when you need it, not on a calendar.

Here's an example of an athlete we coach.

She's a physician. Two kids. Twelve hour shifts that never end on time.

She wants a BQ, and she's tired of plans that fall apart by Wednesday.

So we stop fighting her week. We build training around the shifts she actually has. When a night goes long, we pull back. When she's absorbing the work, we push.

Your week doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be repeatable.

Built for people with full lives

Most training plans assume you have unlimited time. You don't.

You have meetings that run late. Kids who get sick. Flights that leave at 6 AM. A night of bad sleep before your long run.

That is not a problem to hide from your coach. It is the information your coach needs.

Who we coach

Our athletes are executives, physicians, parents, business owners and more.

What they share is simple. They want to race well, and they are not willing to wreck their work or their family to do it.

The goals we coach to

A fast marathon, a BQ and the Majors

We coach runners as well as triathletes. Our single sport coaching is for athletes who only run. A Boston qualifier or a Major is a big goal when you work full time, and it is very doable with the right plan behind it.

70.3 Worlds

A 70.3 Worlds slot asks for durability. Can you hold your form deep into the run, and do it again the next day in training? That is where we build.

Kona and the IRONMAN World Championship

I know that race from the inside. I finished 8th at the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona in 8:57.

How the coaching actually works

Before we change anything in your week, we ask two questions. Why are you doing what you're doing? And why are you doing it now?

That is the difference between programming and coaching. A program starts from a template. Coaching starts from you: the load you can really carry and how durable you are today.

Your life sets the dose: StressLogic

Your stress budget is not just training. It is work, family, sleep and everything you carry emotionally.

The same 12 hour training week can be productive for one athlete and destructive for another.

So every week your coach looks at your power, pace, heart rate, HRV and how you felt. Then we decide: push, hold or pull back.

Physiology sets the direction. Your life sets the dose.

Your zones come from your own Critical Power on the bike and Critical Speed on the run, measured from efforts you actually complete. Not a generic formula.

Recovery when you need it, not on a calendar

We don't pencil in a recovery week every few weeks and hope it lines up with your life.

Recovery is on demand. When your data and your week say you need it, you get it. When you are absorbing the work well, we keep building.

Missed a session? It's gone, and that's fine

Life happens. A session gets missed.

We don't make it up. We don't cram it into Saturday. Your coach looks at the week as it really went and builds the next one from there.

Travel and long work days

Hotel gym. No pool. A 14 hour day.

Tell your coach, and the week changes. Travel, illness and short sleep all change what you should do. A linear plan assumes your body adapts on schedule. Real life doesn't.

Coach or plan?

A plan gives you structure. A coach makes decisions.

A plan can't see that you slept five hours or that work blew up on Tuesday. Your coach can, and adjusts.

If you are self motivated and want a coach built framework on your own schedule, our TrainingPlans+ may suit you. If you want someone steering every week, look at 1-1 coaching. You can compare them on the What Coaching Service is Right for You page.

Runners can choose Single-Sport versions of both 1-1 Comprehensive and 1-1 Foundation coaching.

Who your coach is

I'm Angela Naeth. I'm a 3x IRONMAN champion, a 19x IRONMAN 70.3 winner, and I have two top 8 finishes at Unbound Gravel.

Before I raced as a pro, I trained as a physiotherapist. I hold a Master's in Physical Therapy.

Every coach on our team works from the same written method, ECHO Devo. No matter who coaches you, the work is grounded in the same system. You can read how it came together on our How We Coach page.

And you don't have to do this journey alone. Our ANC team trains alongside you, cheers you on and keeps you consistent on the weeks when life gets loud.

FAQ

Can you qualify for Kona or Boston with a full time job? Yes. What matters is consistent training that fits your real life, week after week.

How many hours a week will I need? It depends on your goal, your history and your life. We start from the hours you really have, not the hours a template wants.

What does a coach do that a plan can't? A coach reads how you are actually doing and changes your week. Push, hold or pull back, decided every week.

How does online coaching work week to week? Your training lives in TrainingPeaks. You train, your data comes in, you tell your coach how it felt, and your coach decides what comes next.

Does Angela Naeth coach marathoners as well as triathletes? Yes. We offer single sport coaching for runners as well as triathlon coaching.
