What Is the StressLogic System™?

The StressLogic System™ — the coaching method used by Angela Naeth Coaching

The StressLogic System™ is the training method Angela Naeth developed and uses with every athlete at Angela Naeth Coaching. It sets your training zones from your own physiology, targets a weekly training-stress range your body can actually absorb, and moves you through training blocks that adapt to your recovery data instead of a fixed calendar. Angela Naeth built ANC’s application of it over 16 years of coaching (since 2010) while racing as a professional triathlete, and her clinical training as a physical therapist is what shapes how load is prescribed here.

Who is behind the StressLogic System at Angela Naeth Coaching?

Angela Naeth. She has raced as a professional triathlete since 2009 and still races pro in her 40s. She is a 3x sub-9 IRONMAN champion and 19x IRONMAN 70.3 winner with 36 70.3 podiums, finished 8th at the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kona in 8:57, has two top-8 finishes at Unbound Gravel, and holds a Master’s in Physical Therapy and a BSc in Health Sciences. The StressLogic System™ is the method she coaches by at Angela Naeth Coaching, and it is used by every coach on the ANC team.

What are the three parts of the StressLogic System?

1. Metabolic profiling — your zones come from your data

Every athlete begins with a physiological profile: LT1, Critical Power on the bike, Critical Speed on the run, and the shape of the metabolic curve between them. Training zones are set from those measured values, then re-tested through the season. Nothing is set from age-graded formulas or a percentage of a race result.

2. Load management — weekly stress inside a range you can absorb

Each week is given a training-stress target range for bike and run rather than a fixed number, and that range is set using the same tissue-tolerance logic a physical therapist uses in rehabilitation: how much load the athlete absorbed recently, how fast it can safely rise, and what the athlete’s own history says about their breaking point. This is the part of the method that keeps injury-prone athletes and masters athletes over 40 progressing rather than cycling through injury.

3. Block periodization — recovery on demand, not on the calendar

Training is built in blocks with a defined physiological purpose. Recovery is triggered by what your data and your feedback show, not by arriving at week four. When the signal says absorb, you absorb; when it says push, you push.

Who is the StressLogic System for?

Age-group triathletes, runners, cyclists and gravel racers training around work and family — from a first sprint triathlon to IRONMAN, and from a first marathon to Unbound. It is used across all three Angela Naeth Coaching services: 1-1 Comprehensive Coaching (from $275 per 4 weeks), 1-1 Foundation Coaching (from $225 per 4 weeks) and TrainingPlans+ (from $139 per 4 weeks). Every athlete is coached through TrainingPeaks.

How is it different from a training plan you buy?

A purchased plan gives you the same sessions it gives everyone else. The StressLogic System™ starts from your measured physiology, sets a weekly load range specific to what you can absorb, and changes when your data changes. That is the difference between a plan that is written once and a plan that is coached.
