1-1 Foundational Coaching.
Real Coaching, Clear Structure
For the athlete who wants a real coach building and overseeing training — with clear structure and deliberate, signal-driven adjustments.
Foundation is fully individualized 1-1 coaching with clear boundaries around coach involvement. Your training is built and overseen by your ANC coach — intentional, progressive, and grounded in the same frameworks that power our highest level of service — delivered in a structure that matches how you actually want to train.
Foundation sits deliberately between self-guided TrainingPlans+ and fully adaptive 1-1 Comprehensive Coaching. It's for athletes who want a real coach behind the wheel — but who don't need that coach adjusting every turn in real time.
How Training Is Delivered
In Foundation, all training is fully individualized. Your ANC coach builds and oversees it using our block periodization model and the StressLogic framework, delivered on a weekly basis within a stable structure.
Training progresses logically over time. Adjustments are made when meaningful performance, recovery, or execution signals call for a change — not as routine week-to-week tuning. Your coach watches the overall direction and steps in deliberately, keeping your load appropriate and your progression on track.
Coach Support & Scope
Your ANC coach is responsible for:
- Building and overseeing your fully individualized training
- Applying StressLogic to guide weekly load decisions
- Feedback on your Key, Quality, and Long workouts each week
- Interpreting training trends and execution patterns
- Facilitating and analyzing Critical Power and Critical Speed testing
- Managing your Performance Management Chart
- Making targeted adjustments when clear signals warrant them
- Taper, pacing rehearsal, and race-day logistics
- Customized strength programming
Coach involvement here is intentional and structured — your coach monitors direction and intervenes deliberately, rather than reacting to every workout or data point.

- Targeted feedback on key workouts
- Deliberate, signal-driven adjustments
- CP / CS testing and zone setup
- Race execution and taper support
Foundation does not include
- Day-to-day plan micromanagement
- Continuous week-to-week redesign

How Foundation Works
In practice, your coach sets the direction, oversees execution, and steps in when it matters. Training is adjusted selectively, not reflexively — high-quality individualized coaching without the expectation of constant coach presence. Athletes who find themselves wanting frequent adjustments and ongoing messaging are better served by 1-1 Comprehensive Coaching.
“Standard marathon coaching is mostly paces off a race calculator and ‘get the miles in.’ What I got instead was a real philosophy — progression and pacing built from my own critical speed, and a fueling strategy rehearsed until race day felt boring. Nothing was one-size-fits-all guesswork. I finally ran the negative split I always knew I had and qualified with room to spare.”

What Makes This Different from Comprehensive
Involvement, not method
Foundation uses deliberate, selective coach intervention within a stable framework. Comprehensive is defined by continuous, proactive involvement and unlimited communication. The difference isn't quality — it's how actively your coach is involved and how often your training adapts.
