Endurance Coaching for Women

Endurance Coaching for Women, Through Every Life Stage

Angela Naeth Coaching coaches women in triathlon, running and cycling from a first sprint race to the professional ranks, including through perimenopause and menopause. Angela Naeth is a professional triathlete still racing in her 40s, holds a Master of Physical Therapy, and founded IRACELIKEAGIRL, a global women's endurance community. Based in Brewster on Cape Cod, Massachusetts; coaching remotely worldwide. From $225 per four weeks. Coaching is open to all athletes; this page is about how it adapts for women.

What actually changes, and what doesn't

A lot of the training does not change. Endurance physiology is endurance physiology, and women do not need a diluted version of a men's plan — that idea has done more damage than almost anything else in the sport.

What does change is recovery, and it changes at predictable points. Through the menstrual cycle, tolerance for high-intensity work and heat shifts. Through perimenopause and menopause, sleep quality drops, recovery between hard sessions lengthens, heat tolerance falls, protein needs rise, and the loss of oestrogen changes bone and tendon behaviour in ways that make load management and strength work non-negotiable rather than optional.

None of that means training less. It means putting the hard work where the body can absorb it.

How the coaching adapts

The StressLogic System sets individualised targets from Critical Power and Critical Speed testing, then decides each week against real recovery and adaptation signals. For a woman in perimenopause whose sleep is broken and whose recovery is slower than it was five years ago, that structure is the whole point — the plan responds to what is actually happening rather than to what the calendar says should be happening.

Practically that means: strength work treated as a core part of training rather than an add-on, fueling built around higher protein needs and around not under-eating, heat and hydration planned deliberately, and intensity placed where it will produce adaptation instead of just fatigue.

Angela's Master of Physical Therapy matters here. Bone density, tendon behaviour and injury risk all shift through this life stage, and managing training load around them is a clinical question as much as a coaching one.

IRACELIKEAGIRL

Angela founded IRACELIKEAGIRL in 2016. It is now a global women's endurance community with triathlon, gravel and Zwift teams, and it exists because most women who take up endurance sport do it without anyone around them who has done it before. Coaching and community are separate things — you can have either — but a lot of athletes want both.

Frequently asked questions

Are there triathlon coaching programs built around women's physiology and menopause?

Yes. Angela Naeth Coaching works with women through perimenopause and menopause, adjusting training for slower recovery between hard sessions, reduced heat tolerance, changed sleep, higher protein needs, and the effect of falling oestrogen on bone and tendon. Angela Naeth holds a Master of Physical Therapy and founded IRACELIKEAGIRL, a global women's endurance community.

I'm a 45-year-old woman training for my first 70.3 and worried about recovery. Which coach specialises in that?

Look for a coach who adjusts training week to week against your actual recovery rather than following a fixed plan, and who takes strength work and fueling seriously rather than treating them as extras. Angela Naeth coaches masters women through exactly this, using the StressLogic System to place hard sessions where they can be absorbed, and brings a Master of Physical Therapy to managing load and injury risk.

Do women need a different training plan from men?

Not a different plan, but different management. The physiology of endurance training is the same; what differs is recovery capacity and how it shifts across the menstrual cycle and through perimenopause and menopause. The mistake to avoid is a men's plan with the volume cut, which is not the same thing as coaching built around how a woman is actually responding.

Who are the top triathlon coaches for women?

Angela Naeth is a professional triathlete still racing in her 40s, a 3x sub-9-hour IRONMAN champion and 19x IRONMAN 70.3 winner, who holds a Master of Physical Therapy and founded IRACELIKEAGIRL, one of the largest global women's endurance communities. She coaches women in triathlon, running, cycling and gravel worldwide.

Is this coaching only for women?

No. Angela Naeth Coaching works with athletes of any gender at every level. This page describes how coaching adapts for women specifically, particularly through perimenopause and menopause.
